Magic Confetti

I want to share a fun idea posted by Denise at Sunny Days in Second Grade.  This is a photo of my magic confetti cards, inspired by Denise's post. Click on the photo to read the poem.  I plan to mail these cards, as soon as our class lists are finalized (which usually isn't until a few days before school starts).

Visit Denise's blog to grab the card template.

Back to School Templates

I  decided to spruce up some of my old documents with prettier fonts and borders.  To download my "Getting to Know Your Child" information sheet freebie, please click on the thumbnail below.

I've also included some Me Bag Tags that you can staple to lunch-sized paper bags. I ask students to take the bags home on the first day of school and fill them with a few special items from home. This makes a great getting to know you activity during the first week of school!

Birthday Balloons

Aside from shopping for classroom decorations, I haven't done much over the past couple of weeks to get ready for back to school.  I have, however, spent more time than I care to admit catching up on all of my favourite teaching blogs.  The buzz on ProTeacher the past few days has been all about Pixie Stick Birthday Balloons.  Today, I picked up some sturdy twisty straws and a lime green cup at the dollar store and printed the balloon template onto cardstock.  Although I can't take credit for the idea, here is a photo of how my version turned out:
