Have you heard of Student Vote? If you teach Grades 4+ in Canada, you really should check it out! Unfortunately, it's too late to register your class for a parallel election, but there are still lots of great videos and slide shows to help prepare your students for October 19th's federal election.
I created some of my own materials to help my students research the political parties and local candidates. My students will be using these with the Pollenize website, which has political party platforms written in student-friendly language. Just click on the photo below to download my graphic organizers. I've also included a mock BC Driver's Licence for students to bring to the polling station!
